Today… was interesting. The first gentleman Zahra and I went to talk to was probably one of my favourites in New Orleans. It’s like one of those strange attractions when I see a cat (which I’m not a huge cat lover, and I’m allergic to them) and I try my hardest to avoid any physical contact with it, and somehow it ends up not leaving me alone for however long I’m there. Well, in this instance I was the cat, and Raymond was the animal disliker. He was bluntly honest, intimidatingly humorous, and so incredibly philosophical for someone who described himself as a “coonass.”
Afterwards, we traveled 2 hours to Grand Isle, Louisiana. I kept falling asleep in the car every 10 minutes, and feeling my laptop slide on my lap, and would spastically wake up. Finally after arriving to a location that looked like it had potential to be the destination, it starts pouring. We had to buy bright blue plastic ponchos that stuck to my skin, and suffocated me outside, because I didn’t pack my legit “rain suit” (that comes with both rain zip up jacket and pants…I know).
The day was gloomy, slow, and my shoes were drenched in sea water and in murky rain water. But, at the very end, we found some of the most wonderful fishermen we were missing. Hopefully, we will be able to accompany them on one of their fishing trips soon. Hopefully.
But, overall, it was a pretty decent day. I just wish it would have been sunny instead. Oh, and the cheese calzone was fantastic. And I love my three other roommates because they force me to do my government paper that is due tomorrow!
I’m letting my wet converse dry , and I stuffed the blue poncho to into my bag to keep it from being discovered. And to avoid looking like a walking blue m&m again.
Goodnight.

The two guys in your photo seem to be anglers, not swimmers.
I’ll change it. (:
So what exactly is a coonass?
It’s someone of Cajun ethnicity, kind of like a the term “redneck” is used to describe some people from different regions, a “coonass” is their term.
